Candlelit tables set for dinner at Osteria Lume
Hayes Valley · Modern Italian

An evening that unfolds by candlelight.

A neighborhood osteria in Hayes Valley where the pasta is rolled by hand each morning, the oven never cools, and dinner is meant to last.

Our Story

A family kitchen, opened to the neighborhood.

Osteria Lume began with a wood-fired oven, a rolling pin, and a belief that the best nights are the ones nobody rushes.

Our pasta is made by hand every morning, our sauces simmer for hours, and our produce comes from growers we know by name. Chef Elena Rossi cooks the way her grandmother did in Bologna, with patience and a generous hand.

The dining room is small on purpose. Warm light, an open kitchen, and a cellar of three hundred labels make it the kind of place where one plate turns into three and a glass turns into a bottle.

Kind Words

Loved by the neighborhood.

A few of the notes our guests have left after dinner.

The tagliatelle al tartufo is the best plate of pasta I have had outside of Italy. We booked our anniversary here and never wanted to leave.

Marisa Devlin

Regular since 2019

Warm light, unhurried service, and a wine list that rewards curiosity. Lume feels like a secret the whole neighborhood is keeping.

From the burrata to the last spoon of tiramisù, every course felt personal. This is the table we bring everyone we love to.
